It’s Sunday evening and after 22 years of practicing chiropractic I’m still looking forward to tomorrow morning. I’m truly blessed and very lucky to have chosen such a special profession.
I love my work and I enjoy talking to people about chiropractic. People have some pretty strong ideas and misconceptions about chiropractic. I’m always hearing things like…”chiropractors aren’t real doctors” (by the way if you ever wondered about that, our education is equivalent to that of an M.D.), or if I’m at a party and someone hears that I’m a chiropractor they’ll say something like…” Hey my back’s a little sore right here, could you give me a crack?” It’s usually meant in good nature, but it saddens me because I know that chiropractic has so much more to offer to people than a quick crack to take a little ache or pain away.
The other week I was on the bus going to the city and I got into a conversation with the man sitting next to me. After I told him I was a chiropractor he said, “Oh, I hear that chiropractors want you to go for your whole life. You’re not one of those, are you?” I answered, “Yes, I am.”
Studies have shown that the stress of modern day life has tripled in the last ten years. It is also now common knowledge that stress is one of the greatest contributing factors to diseases such as cancer and heart disease. Scientific studies have also shown that chiropractic care (specifically “Torque Release Technique”, the technique I utilize and techniques similar to it) has the ability to reverse the physiological affects of stress on the body. A study last year revealed that people under regular chiropractic care for over 7 years had 69% less money spent on pharmaceuticals, 67% less visits to the medical doctors and 69% less surgeries! I have seen the same kind of positive affects of chiropractic care for my patients for over 20 years.
Does it seem like a good idea to get your spine and nerve system checked regularly? Should you do it for your whole life? I would hope that all of you do, but it’s your choice!
Love you all!
